  Black Poplar Trees

  These rare trees are one of the most endangered native timer trees in the UK and are in decline. 

Mature trees can grow up to 30m and live for 200 years. With thick, dark bark containing cracks and burrs, the twigs become knobbly with age. They have shiny, heart shaped leaves with long tips that smell of balsam.

Rainbow Willow Bundles

Our natural living rainbow willow bundles are made up of 8 medium width different coloured cuttings, from a variety of willow types and are easy to plant, requiring no digging.

Simply insert cuttings into the ground  by hand and they will self-root during spring. They should typically be planted at a distance of 30cm in either single or double rows.

The willow will grow into a slender tree of 2-3 metres high during the first summer, and will add 2-3 metres per year until reaching a final height of around 8-9 metres.
 

To restrict the height just give it a haircut every year (coppicing), it will provide excellent screening and huge benefits to wildlife. It can be cut down to ground level (coppiced) for bushy/denser growth.

Willow thrives in almost every soil type and enjoys wet and boggy places.

Some willows have one of the highest Carbon Dioxide Absorption Rates of native trees in the UK.
